Another track from "OH HUBRIS" coming in November 2015. Featuring Cary Ann Hearst and Jeff Kozelski.

Old Man River

Early one morning in late July
The winds picked up and the river grew wide
Battened down the hatches and we locked the doors
Said you best not come around here no more

The windows all rattled and weather vane spun
Aint no place to hide, aint no place to run
We're hangin in the tub with our heads in our hands
Cuz we can't fit under daddy's baby grand

Old man river
Roll on by
Shake and shiver
My oh my

Over at the station got a man on the ground
Well they wrapped up that case when his body was found
With a 40 inside him and one in his hand
He was going down the highway to the promised land

So it's out to the country now to pay our respects
To the ones he left dealing with the side effects
Get a plateful, just be grateful that it isn't you
And when those waters come jumpin' let 'em flow right through

Old man river
Roll on by
Shake and shiver
My oh my

Later that summer when the river ran dry
The banks all crumbled to the lower side
Up on the mountain where the kids all swam
They found another body caught up in Robin's Dam

She was the widow of the trucker from the second verse
She was never any good and she only got worse
Some folk said it was all for the best
But the ones who said nothing are the truly blessed

Old man river
Roll on by
Shake and shiver
My oh my
